On February 19, Jeon So-nee met with “Star News” for an interview at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, where she shared her thoughts on acting, the film “Melo Movie,” and her special affection for her senior, Song Hye-kyo.

Jeon So-nee’s latest project, “Melo Movie,” released on Netflix on February 14, has topped Korea’s TOP 10 series. The drama follows young adults navigating love and dreams while overcoming personal traumas. Jeon So-nee plays Son Ju-ah, a character she deeply resonated with.

Reflecting on the role, she shared, “While filming this project, I deeply resonated with the ‘uncertain youth’ in ‘Melo Movie.’ I, too, feel ambiguous about myself. Sometimes, I feel proud, thinking I’ve done well and come far, but other times, I feel anxious, wondering if this is all I’m capable of. I may seem foolish for going back and forth like this, but despite those worries, acting makes me happy. I think I’ve come to understand that even when emotions waver and concerns arise, they all eventually pass.”

She also revealed how her approach to acting evolved: “In the past, I thought relying too much on my own persona while acting was lazy. So, I tried to avoid bringing too much of myself into my roles. But through this project, I met a character grounded in reality. It made me want to reveal myself more through my performance, and that was an incredibly enjoyable process.”

Regarding her close friendship with Song Hye-kyo, Jeon So-nee mentioned they haven’t yet discussed “Melo Movie” since “Dark Nuns” is still showing. However, she expressed her admiration for Song Hye kyo’s performance: “Since ‘Dark Nuns’ is still showing in theaters, we haven’t talked about ‘Melo Movie’ yet. But I did talk a lot about ‘Dark Nuns’ after watching it. She looks like an angel so incredibly beautiful.”

When asked whether she seeks acting advice from Song Hye-kyo, she explained, “I do ask my seniors a lot about acting, but I’m the type to ask on set. Since I don’t always know the full context of a situation, I tend to be cautious about discussing such things outside of work.” She added, “To me, Hye Kyo unnie isn’t just a senior as an actress. She’s someone who makes me think, ‘I want to be like that kind of person.’ Every moment spent with her is a learning experience for me.”

The way she prioritizes her happiness and dedicates herself to spending meaningful time with the people she loves is truly admirable.”
